Christmas 2009

We had a lovely Christmas this year.
We stayed home all day and the kids didn't even get dressed.
Sarah's favorite gift was a promised trip to the mall to spend her gift cards.
Isaac was happy and content to build a castle, a helicopter, and a 4-wheeler out of legos.
Joshua is excited to try out his new skateboard (with "safety" pads and gloves).
The Barbie colony was replenished and Emma could not be happier.
(The colony was hit hard earlier in the year
by a puppy who chewed
every arm and leg of every barbie.)
Jason has seen the light on just how fun a nintendo DS can be,
and I am happy for the "Friends" I got (all 10 seasons).
We are excited for the week between Christmas and New Year's
because we put up the big table in the front room and do puzzles all week.
The kids have ones that don't take that long to put together and
then there are the 1000 piece ones for me.
We eat, watch movies, laugh, and have a great time.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

Christmas Set-up 2009

Thie year Jason and I put the tree up during the day when the kids were at school. After dinner and homework we let them decorate it. They love to hang their own ornaments. They did a really good job. We listened to Christmas music and had a great time.

Thanksgiving 2009

The turkey is in the oven and the cat could not be happier. He stayed there the whole time the turkey cooked.
Table presentation. We decided to do fancy this year. We got new dishes and cups for the occasion. We also got fabric napkins! We had so much fun having dinner with just the 6 of us.

The meal. Deviled eggs, peas, fancy cut carrots, mashed potatoes, turkey and yummy gravy.

Back posts

I have added a bunch of new posts today. Make sure you look through all of them. Lots of pics!

First Day of School 2009

Sarah on her way to the first day of Jr. High

Isaac (blue) starts 4th grade

Joshua (red) starts 2nd grade

This is what Emma will be doing with her days now that the other kids are all in school.

Streaks and foil

Sarah has wanted to streak her hair for a long time. Thankfully we have a great neighbor how knows how and did it for her. Thank you Jessie!

Foil and brush

More foil and brushing

The wet result

The dry result

Sarah loves it! I think she looks so good. We got this done just in time for the new school year to start.

Canyon Fires

Hobble Creek and Whiting Canyons Fires

The view of the Hobble Creek fire from our neighborhood. This pic was taken in the street outside my side door.

A plane dropping fire retardant on the Hobble Creek fire.

Lots of smoke for days.

Sprinklers

For 2 weeks we have been fixing, replacing, glueing, cursing sprinklers. We have had to replace 7 heads, the 3 turn on valves (including the PVC pipe for all 3), and we found a little surprise. As Jason dug up one of the sprinkler heads to replace he discovered a pipe that didn't belong. It seemed to go to another sprinkler head we didn't even know we had.

(Sidewalk on bottom of picture.

Crazy sprinkler head pipe

The pipe going up the picture i

the new pipe we found.)

So, Jason and Wes (his brother) started digging up lawn (weeds) in search of the pipe end. In the process they dug up this lovely chain. (Found in the middle of the lawn (weeds))

At long last they found the end of the pipe and a sprinkler head we didn't know we had. Of course we had to replace it, but now my bushes get watered by a sprinkler rather then by hand.

Goodbye Dead Tree

Because of this....

It is now this....

Thank you Russ! We can't seem to do anything in the yard without an spectators.

Tree climbing and grapes

Over by the playground, there are grapes growing on the fence. My kids think they are their own person supply. Also, they can not see a tree without climbing it.

What a life!

First one up, last one down...

Family Reunion 2009

Caldwell Family Reunion August 15, 2009

The Caldwell family is Jason's Grandma's family. The reunion was held in Sandy. The kids had a great time seeing cousins, meeting new cousins, and play on the playground and tennis courts.

What family reunion doesn't start with food. Yummy roast beef, BBQ salmon, salads, desserts (lots of desserts). Thanks to all the great ladies that made the meal so good.

The blonde girls. Emma, Bentley, and Paityn.

Floyd, Krissie, Lily and Kai (Jason's twin brother and his family)

There is an auction at each reunion to help pay of the food, etc. The kids were so excited to get their treasures. Josh - Big wand bubbles ; Isaac - Sponge dinosaurs ; Emma - Tinkerbell keys

Sarah was so excited to get a nail kit with an electrical filer for $2

Aunt Winnie is the oldest of the Caldwell siblings. She is the only one still alive. She is 98 years old and still remembered our family. We used to live in the Millcreek area and we would run into her the Albertson's. Still sharp as a tack.

Tired after running all over and visiting with our family friends. Ready to go home. (Don't you just love Emma's dirty face)

This week.....

Monday
Came home from helping Mom for the weekend. She is doing well. She had her transplant on Tuesday and all is going well. Tuesday
Indian cooking. Brandy, Tiffany, Karen and I did some serious Indian cooking. I have no idea what you call it all, but it was spicy and yummy.

Wednesday
Let''s see...What did I do? Oh, laundry. No pictures necessary.

Thursday
Received a call from a good friend, so off to Provo Canyon we went. Played in the water at Bridal Veil Falls and then played at a Provo park. Good conversation and fun in the sun.

Friday
Happy Pioneer Day! Watched the parade on TV and then went up Hobble Creek Canyon for a bit of sun and water fun. We walked up and down in the creek and got very wet and cooled off and had a great time.

Saturday....Who knows...maybe a nap???
